Love

Your toothbrush next to mine
Gouttes de pluie tapping on the window

you should let me in too.

Fall in love slowly,
Savour the tang,
Let the saltiness, bitterness,
Roll over your tongue.

It will, in time, reveal a sweetness
Unlike any you've tasted.
"Carpe sapor":
Aren't you glad you waited?

Stargazing in the back garden; petrichor air filling our lungs
Knowing how sweet you like your tea.
Little things like this
Remind me that things don't have to be so hard.

And I believe that I loved you before I even met you,
I know it by the pounding in my chest quand je pense à toi.
Breathlessly gasping for air,
Dragged underneath the waves, the pull of the tide
Overwhelms me and I drown peacefully in its embrace.

I do not think of you as a friend.
Nor a lover.
I believe in love that transcends tradition,
We curate our own culture
Our own community.

Indeed, things do not have to be so hard.
Join me in this vastness,
Soak in the oceanic feeling.
I will let you in my cold pearl heart.
You need only ask.
